From 1st September 2025, Mounjaro prices in the UK for private patients will rise by up to 170%, with the highest dose increasing from £122 to £330 per month. However, if you receive Mounjaro through the NHS, you will not be affected.
Why NHS Patients Are Protected from the Price Increase
The NHS has a separate, negotiated pricing agreement with manufacturer Eli Lilly. This allows the NHS to offer Mounjaro at a heavily discounted rate, regardless of changes to the private market price.
The upcoming rise is due to Eli Lilly aligning UK private prices with the European average. This does not affect NHS contracts, so NHS patients will continue to pay the standard NHS prescription fee (if applicable).
Who Will See Their Costs Go Up?
The price increase affects private patients only. Around 90% of Mounjaro users in the UK pay privately, so most people using the medication outside of the NHS will face higher costs from September.
