What is Wegovy?

Wegovy is the brand name for semaglutide at weight-management doses. It mimics the GLP-1 hormone your gut releases after eating, reducing appetite and helping you feel full for longer.

It has the longest real-world track record of the current GLP-1 weight treatments. Like Mounjaro, it's a once-weekly pen injection started low and stepped up monthly to keep side effects gentle.

Wegovy offers and discount codes

PPRX doesn't run a Wegovy discount code at the moment. Codes on voucher sites or social media may be out of date, or not ours. The price you see for each dose already includes the consultation, the prescriber's review, the private prescription and delivery, so there are no extra fees to add on.

What does bring the cost down is a subscription: it takes £10 off every pen, which is £130 over a year of 13 pens. You can pause or cancel it. On one-off orders, Klarna or Clearpay may be offered at checkout to spread the cost; they aren't available on subscriptions.

Be wary of Wegovy offered far below the usual price, or sold without questions about your health. The MHRA says GLP-1 medicines should only come from a legitimate pharmacy with a prescription after a consultation, and never from beauty salons, social media or anyone who doesn't ask about your health first.

How long a pen lasts, and how to store it

Each Wegovy FlexTouch pen holds four weekly doses, so one pen lasts four weeks. You take one injection on the same day each week, at any time of day, with or without food.

  • Before you start a pen, keep it in the fridge (2°C to 8°C), away from the cooling element. Don't freeze it, and don't use it if it has been frozen.
  • Once you've started it, it can be kept below 30°C or in the fridge for up to 6 weeks, which is longer than the four doses take. Keep the cap on to protect it from light.
  • You can change your injection day if you need to, as long as there are at least 3 days between two doses.

If you miss a dose

If it's within 5 days of when the dose was due, take it as soon as you can. If more than 5 days have passed, skip the missed dose and take the next one on your usual day.

If you've missed more than one dose, talk to your prescriber before injecting again. The product information says restarting on a lower dose should be considered.

Wegovy and the contraceptive pill

Semaglutide isn't expected to make the contraceptive pill less effective, according to the UK product information. That's different from Mounjaro, where the advice is to change or add contraception for a while.

Wegovy shouldn't be used in pregnancy. If you're planning a pregnancy, stop it at least 2 months beforehand, and tell your prescriber straight away if you become pregnant.

Switching to or from Wegovy

Tell us in the consultation what you've taken before, the dose, when you last took it and how you got on with it. Your prescriber uses that to decide your starting dose. If you'd rather not inject, the Wegovy Pill is the same medicine as a daily tablet: someone on 2.4 mg a week can move to the 25 mg tablet, starting one week after the last injection. Mounjaro and Wegovy compared covers the other weekly injection.

What happens when you stop

Weight tends to come back after stopping. In the STEP 4 trial, everyone took semaglutide for 20 weeks, then some switched to a placebo. Over the next 48 weeks, those who carried on lost a further 7.9% of their weight on average, while those on the placebo regained 6.9%.

In a year-long follow-up after the STEP 1 trial, with no treatment, weight went up in both groups, but people who'd taken semaglutide were still 5.6% below their starting weight on average.

So it's worth planning with your prescriber: how long to stay on treatment, whether to come down to a lower dose, and the habits that help keep the weight off.

Wegovy and heart health

As well as weight management, Wegovy is licensed in the UK to reduce the risk of major cardiovascular events, such as heart attack and stroke, in adults with established heart or blood vessel disease and a BMI of 27 or more. If that applies to you, mention it in your consultation.

Delivery

How much weight can I expect to lose on Wegovy?
In clinical trials semaglutide produced an average reduction of around 15% of body weight over 68 weeks. Individual results vary; your prescriber will set realistic expectations.
How is Wegovy taken?
A once-weekly injection under the skin from a pre-filled pen, on the same day each week.
What's the difference between Wegovy and Ozempic?
Both are semaglutide. Wegovy is licensed specifically for weight management at higher doses; Ozempic is licensed for type 2 diabetes. Your clinician will prescribe the appropriate option.
How does Wegovy compare to Mounjaro?
Mounjaro (tirzepatide) acts on two hormones and shows larger average weight loss in trials; Wegovy has a longer track record. The right choice depends on your history and tolerance.
Is Wegovy available on the NHS?
NHS access is limited and criteria-based. PPRX provides it privately after a clinical consultation, with full titration and follow-up.
Is there a Wegovy discount code?
No. PPRX doesn't have a discount code at the moment, and codes on voucher sites or social media may be out of date or not ours. The ways the cost comes down are real ones: a subscription takes £10 off every pen, and there are no separate consultation, prescription or delivery fees.
How much is Wegovy per week?
Each pen holds four weekly doses, so it works out at £36.25 a week on 0.25 mg to £72.50 on 2.4 mg, the maintenance dose. The price follows the dose your prescriber agrees, not a fixed plan.
How long does a Wegovy pen last?
Each FlexTouch pen holds four weekly doses, so one pen lasts four weeks. Before first use, keep it in the fridge. Once you've started it, it can be kept below 30°C or in the fridge for up to 6 weeks, which is longer than the four doses take.
Can I pay for Wegovy with Klarna?
On one-off orders, Klarna or Clearpay may be offered at checkout, so you can spread the cost. They aren't available on subscriptions.
