Product Use
Corsodyl 1% w/w Dental Gel helps you target problem areas in your mouth directly and effectively. It is an intensive treatment that is formulated to treat and prevent gum problems, such as red, swollen or bleeding gums.
It is clinically proven to help put a stop to the first stage of gum disease, gingivitis. If left untreated, this can progress to the irreversible second stage of gum disease periodontitis, which can lead to tooth loss.
Instructions
Adults: brush teeth with one inch of gel on a moistened toothbrush, once or twice daily for about 1 minute. For gingivitis, use for one month. For aphthous ulceration and oral candidal infections, an alternative method of delivery may be required which facilitates application of the gel to affected areas. This should be used once or twice daily, for about 1 minute. When used as part of a regimen to prevent dental caries the gel should be applied for 5 minutes nightly for 14 days in a close fitting tray. Children: should only be used on the advice of a medical professional.
Cautions
Because of the way chlorhexidine forms a protective layer across the teeth and gums to help prevent new plaque from forming, some temporary discolouration can occur on the teeth and tongue.
In the majority of cases this can be removed by brushing, and will disappear once the treatment has stopped.
Discolouration usually occurs when certain foods and drinks such as tea, coffee and red wine are consumed within an hour of using the mouthwash.
Other sources such as beer and cigarettes cause staining but are not associated with chlorhexidine digluconate in Corsodyl.
